The Friends Group provides an opportunity for volunteering to support of local wildlife, connect the public with nature and serve children’s environmental educational needs. Volunteering also gives folks the chance to meet new people who share a passion for nature and our National Wildlife Refuge System.
Friends group volunteers have participated in the annual Refuge Day event, gathered native seeds to aid with habitat restoration and completed other projects that are vital to keep our local refuges healthy. In addition, Friends volunteer on committees, raise awareness about the tremendous opportunities offered at our refuges and raise money for the refuges at events. Volunteers also staff our gift shop, Nature’s Nest Books and Gifts located in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. The gift shop uses its profits to benefit the refuges. Volunteering at Nature’s Nest gives you an opportunity to share your love and knowledge of nature while supporting a cause that matters.
